Welcome to the Red Lion Hotel’s new Wine List.
Working in conjunction with our Wine Merchant we have totally overhauled the range and introduced a vast array of new and exciting wines. Our aim is to always ensure the wines are totally compatible with our diverse menu whilst offering value and quality.
HOUSE WINES
FRANCE
The Prince de la Garde range has been chosen for the Clovelly Estate and labelled with our exclusive own label. A range of Southern French Vin de Pays.

A crisp, dry and elegant white with citrus fruit on nose and palate. Very versatile.

Delicate and fruity with a hint of almonds on the palate and a fresh finish. Made by one of Germany’s top Wine Makers.

Extremely fresh and tangy Sauvignon from this appellation close to Sancerre. Perfect with all seafood.
17. MACON PRISSE ‘Les Clochettes’, BURGUNDY (1) £17.45

Organically produced, classic combination of Syrah, Grenache dry yet lingering with a strawberry, slightly peppery hue. Outstanding!

European
31. CLARET RESERVE, Dourthe, BORDEAUX (C) £11.75
A soft and ripe generous Claret to suit all tastes. Made from a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
32. CHATEAU PIETRO PINOT NOIR, ROMANIA (C) £12.50
It may come from Romania but it is bottled in Nuits St Georges and tastes every bit as Burgundian as it looks. Intense strawberry fruit with a warm bitter cherry glow.
34. CHIANTI FONTELLA, Italy (B) £13.95
Tuscany in a bottle. The Sangiovese grape produces a mix of cherries and spice with a welcome dry finish.

Warre is the oldest British port shipper established in Oporto in 1670. This single estate vintage port comes from grapes grown in their Quinta da Cavadinha vineyards in the upper Douro valley. Purple black in colour and well rounded, this wine has a seductive spicy palate
